WTF 4k? I made my recent one last year for 1500 then ended up buying a 24" lcd monitor later for 350 bucks cause my old 20.1 LCD burnt out.
Actually it's been 15 months now since I made it and it's still a beast for modern day games.
3.16 dual core clocked at 3.8
4gb corsair dominator pc 8500 ram
ati 4870 x2 2gb vid ram
wd 300gb velociraptor 10k rpm hd
I have never spent 4k for a pc. The most expensive one I can recall was back in 1994 I think when my parents bought me a Gateway p5-90 with a 17" CRT for a little over 3k. Wow I am getting old.
Anyhow The Informant was very entertaining. I highly recomend watching it. And if you spent any money to watch Cameron Diaz in The Box.. LOL.

It was normal to spend quite a bit back in early 2000s for newly released computer stuff. I got the processor the day it was released on Newegg. It costed 1k by itself! It still works amazingly good for an old chip. The FX series processors from AMD were different (and more costlier) than the AMD 64 3000-4000 series for one single reason: the bus speed multipliers were 100% unlocked for easy overclocking. That's one reason why I got an FX processor.
The hard drives are 74gb 10k RPM WD Raptors on RAID0. They costed $200 a piece back then. Technology is so cheap today compared to back then. And yeah... 4k. I still have the invoice from newegg somewhere in my filing cabinets.

I would never go back to a CRT. A good LCD beats a CRT anyday for my eyes.

Was playing the game today. Should be online again tomorrow so long as I don't get the cold everyone here has.
