Hey couple of quick questions. Is the PVP like totally open on the server we are on Valley of Titans? Like which level will i get to before i have to fight to lvl? Also is it worth it for me to roll on this server since its the last beta and i probably wont get to an ok pvp lvl until maybe sunday? Should i test the game out on a carebear server then just start on the correct server for open beta when our characters transfer over? I dont want to try and lvl when everyone is always 38 and camping corpses hehe.

On pvp servers the world is completely open pvp after lvl 11. However the person will be red named if they are pking as they have to flag outlaw to pk ppl unless its a guild war. So you can see it coming if your paying attention to your surroundings. The quest hubs are safe zones so you have some areas that are safe. It impossibel to get corpse camped in this game cuz A. you never have to corpse run. B. there are multiple instances of each zone similar to AOC if you played that. So you can just switch channels if you run into some high lvl camping an xp area. I leveled up an archer in Euro beta last weekend and had no issues leveling on a pvp server.

Good stuff Khimera. How are the classes looking? Ive been checking out a lot of pvp videos and i am surprised that the archer has to be so close for most of its dmg it seems. Also it seems like the Lancer can be pretty beast in pvp for a tank class. Ill roll on the pvp server maybe get to fight some randoms once in a while hehe

Classes are fairly balanced over alll But they all have their strengths and weaknesses. I had a lot of fun with lancer. I was about as unkillable as you could possibly be. Your not gonna do any massive hits. But you can kill ppl provided they are not getting spam healed. I was able to successfully 1v3 some ppl by dragging a BAM on to their healer and then wrecking them. Sorc has come crazy burst but is super squishy(a true glass cannon) and until late game has some long cast times. Slayer was my favorite melee dps, a nice well rounded pvp class, good mobility, decent damage, and quite a few stun and knockdown abilities.

At the end of beta I was able to hit a 38 priest for over 24k crit. Everything was optimal but it was a truely rare shot. Archers have some rng calculator based on the release of the charge at perfect timing as we take damage holding a charge for a long time.

I have to disagree with you there zot. Every calculation i have seen and reverse engineered for combat has been very precise. The only rng based calculations i have seen is the application of status effects and crits. Things that are checked against a resistance seems to have an RNG based roll. But a lot is still unclear about how resistances interact with combat effects so it may end up not being RNG after all. The large damage hits that seem rng based are usually due to endurance decreasing debuffs or low stam which lowers endurance and increased damage taken. To give you an example a fully stacked endurance debuff on a 38 boss saw an increase of dmg on my fireblast from 15k to 20k, that s a difference of a 30k crit and 40k crit. 45k and 60k if you have crit damage crystals. Things like below 50% health crit damage crystals will see huge spikes in damage in pvp that coupled with varying levels of stam or endurance, will cause your damage to seem RNG but really aren't.
The mechanic for Charge shots is each tier of charge up grants a higher skill power to the ability further increasing damage. Each charge step uses mana up to max of 3 charge steps. Once the 3rd charge step is reached you enter an overcharge step further increasing the power of the skill but also causing increasing damage to yourself. You can over charge for a max of 2 seconds after the 3rd step is reached before the skill fires automatically, at a hefty HP cost i might add. Full overcharge radiant arrow is +25% power
The second mechanic that can affect the damage of your charge up shots is your range to target. You lose 10% damage for every 4 yards starting at 10m. All tho with the release/OB patch you will actually get a +10% bump if your range is inside 6m. so its would like this at release.
inside 6m +10%dmg -> 7-10m full dmg -> 11-14m -10% dmg -> 15-18m -20% dmg
You can however add an RNG element to your radiant arrow with a glyph called glyph of peircing that gives your 35% chance to cause double damage with your radiant arrow.

I was solo and the person had no debuffs on them as they were town camping with their friends outside of town. If I tried to hit them 100 more times I probably could not duplicate that crit hit. That is pure RNG factor. I have tested to find that if I release my charge at the right time I get bigger hits but I have never come close to 24k ever on a player of equal level.
And I was damn near max distance on that shot as I was just poking out to shoot and run back. I believe the shot was at 26m. Still going to say rng here as I have NEVER ever come close to hitting that hard on a player even at close range my biggest shot to a player was 12k before.... less than half of what I did to this player. RNG.
